James Franklin 'pleased' with wide receivers, insists group as a whole can improve consistency
James Franklin met with reporters Tuesday afternoon to discuss the Nittany Lions’ White Out win over Iowa and to preview Week 5’s upcoming matchup against Northwestern.
Franklin started the questions portion of the conference focused on the wide receivers. He said that he is overall pleased with their effort so far this season, but noted that the consistency is something they can continue to improve on.
Here’s his full comment on the matter:
“I’ve been pleased with the group. I think we need to be more consistent as a total group, some guys more than others. KeAndre has shown what he can do… we’ve got a group of guys like we’ve talked about that have shown flashes at times and are doing some things, but need to continue to grow. Overall good, but we need to keep growing and get better in that area.”
While discussing receivers Franklin also noted that Harrison Wallace was not yet back to 100% after missing Week 3 against Illinois. He did not record a reception against the Hawkeyes but played well earlier this season before missing the Illinois game.
James Franklin acknowledged that WR Harrison Wallace wasn’t yet back to 100% vs Iowa after missing the Illinois matchup.
In a second-team role, Wallace played approximately 25 snaps and finished without a reception. As a starter, he caught 10 passes through Game 2.
