James Franklin has learned to be prepared for anything when it comes to interviews on the Big Ten Network with analyst Mike Hall. That came up yet again during an Early Signing Day interview.

In the segment, Hall begins an awkward high school-esque request to hang out more with Franklin. The head coach admitted it was weird but commonplace in their interactions.

Franklin did use the opportunity to reference Penn State getting a chance to sign high school teammates:

“Yeah, this is weird, like a lot of interactions we have, I’m not sure where you’re going with this,” said Franklin in reponse to Hall’s request to hang out more. “But no, the high school teammates, it’s really cool when you’re able to get teammates from prominent high schools that want to stay together. They won’t be roomates when they get here because I have them roommate with other guys to build other relationships.”

Franklin eventually wrapped up the segment by saying he and Hall are good but “not that cool.”

“Mike, I appreciate it, but if we were high school teammates, I don’t think you would be on the staff at Penn State, and I wouldn’t be working for the Big Ten Network,” Franklin explained. “But I do respect you and appreciate you, but we’re cool, but not that cool.”

“All I heard is we’re cool,” Hall clapped back while Franklin chuckled and inquired “What is wrong with you?” of the BTN analyst.
