There’s some magic that happens for Iowa when it plays under the lights at Kinnick Stadium. Some really highly ranked teams have left Iowa City with losses in recent years.

Penn State has been able to avoid that fate on its last two trips to Kinnick. A last-second touchdown in 2017 and an outstanding defensive performance on Saturday have helped the Nittany Lions avoid the upset.

After the game, James Franklin talked about Saturday’s win, which bumped the Nittany Lions to 6-0 on the season and 3-0 in B1G play. The head coach was pleased with how his team managed the game, and how it answered the call in a physical, “hard-nosed, blue-collar” football game.

Franklin kept coming back to one word after the game: proud. Even though there were some struggles throughout the game, especially early, he was pleased with how his team responded.
