James Franklin was understandably excited to take home the Land Grant Trophy after Penn State’s victory vs. Michigan State on Saturday.

In an on-field interview after the game, Franklin got on a tangent while he was describing the Land Grant Trophy.

“It’s like your great-uncle made it in a workshop with leftover parts,” Franklin said.

Here’s a clip:

The right to take that trophy home is a big deal for Franklin and the Nittany Lions. After getting off to their first 0-5 start in school history, PSU ended the regular season with three consecutive wins.

That’s a nice bit of momentum that they can carry into Week 9 and, hopefully for their sake, into the offseason.

Penn State has now won back-to-back games in this series. The Nittany Lions won on Saturday despite a 21-10 halftime deficit. PSU stormed back in the second half and won by a margin of 29-3 after the break.

Penn State’s Week 9 opponent is expected to be announced on Sunday.
