James Franklin releases statement on Penn State's hiring of Manny Diaz
It has been a chaotic couple of weeks in college football as teams are making changes left and right for their head coaches. After being fired as head coach of Miami, Manny Diaz is set to join Penn State as defensive coordinator.
Diaz will be replacing Brent Pry, who is leaving to become the next head coach of Virginia Tech. Diaz was head coach of Miami for three seasons, but he has been an efficient and experienced defensive coordinator for six schools since 2006.
Penn State head coach James Franklin was highly complimentary of Diaz and his addition to the team.
James Franklin got what he wanted in this regard:
"Manny’s defensive philosophy is in line with our scheme and will help in the transition with our current team. His defenses have been aggressive and led the country in several categories throughout his career."

Penn State’s defense ranks seventh in the nation in points allowed per game (16.8) behind a dynamic and talented set of players at each position. Diaz will join first-year co-defensive coordinator/safeties coach Anthony Poindexter as the main coach at Penn State.
