James Franklin has responded to rumors that Texas A&M will make a run at hiring him should the Aggies and Kevin Sumlin part ways by the end of the season.

On Friday morning, Franklin sent out a tweet dismissing the rumors, saying “people will do anything to create drama.”

CBS Sports’ Dennis Dodd reported that Penn State officials were preparing for Texas A&M to make a run at hiring the Nittany Lions head coach if Kevin Sumlin was no longer the coach in College Station at the end of the season.

Considering the amount of success Franklin has enjoyed over the last season-and-a-half at Penn State, it’d be hard to imagine he’d make a lateral move. Plus, since A&M’s epic collapse against UCLA in the season opener, the Aggies have posted a 4-1 mark with the only loss coming to top-ranked Alabama.

It was purely speculation that Texas A&M would be interested in Franklin, but Penn State didn’t want to take any chances. But it sounds like Franklin is pretty pleased about his situation in Happy Valley.
