Josh Pate of 247Sports has a prediction for Penn State's 2022 football season
247Sports’ Josh Pate gave a prediction for how Penn State’s 2022 football season will go on Friday. He has the Nittany Lions finishing better than they did depending on how a couple of swing games go.
Pate predicts that Penn State will finish 10-2 this season. The Nittany Lions went 7-6 in 2021, ending their season with a 24-10 loss to Arkansas in the Outback Bowl. Now with Sean Clifford returning for 1 more year, Pate has them doing much better. However, Pate also stated that Penn State will once again have to prove itself in the first 3 weeks with games against Purdue and Auburn away from home.
Here’s how Pate explained his prediction:

“Penn State, I’m gonna get pretty aggressive here,” said Pate. “They were 7-6 last year, I reasonably expect them to be 10-2 this year if I’m a Nittany Lions fan. Same theme as 2021. We knew that we were opening on the road against Wisconsin, and we had Auburn coming in here in Week 3. The good news is they won both of the games, then they went to Iowa undefeated and came back with 1 loss and no QB. I’ve get 2 coin flip games at the beginning of the year again. It’s gonna be tough, but not undoable.”
