Kalen King earned national recognition as one of the best cornerbacks not only in the Big Ten, but in all of college football in the 2022 season. Thursday, PFF noted that King was the best corner in the country in one defensive measure.

King topped PFF’s single-coverage grades for the 2022 season with a 93.1 mark.

King finished his sensational sophomore season with 21 passes defended (18 passes broken up, 3 interceptions). The PBU number was the best in the Power 5 and No. 3 overall in the FBS behind only Toldeo’s Quinyon Mitchell and MTSU’s Teldrick Ross. Mitchell played in 14 games to King’s 13.

In addition to his excellent pass coverage, King logged 30 total tackles (23 solo, 3 TFL), a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in his second year with the Nittany Lions.

King will look to turn some of the second-team and third-team honors he received in 2022 into first-team All-America honors in 2023.
