Penn State may be 0-2 heading into Saturday’s matchup with Penn State, but that doesn’t mean there are people who are confident in what the Nittany Lions are capable of.

Count Kirk Herbstreit as one of those people. The ESPN college football analyst and mainstay of College Gameday had some pretty nice things to say about Penn State during Saturday’s show in South Bend, Indiana.

While the early part of the Nittany Lions schedule has been rough – a heartbreaking road loss to Indiana and a loss to a highly-ranked Ohio State club – Herbstreit is confident in what Penn State can do the rest of the way.

“I don’t think Penn State loses another game,” he said. “I think it’s more about the backbone of this program. Of course they’re 0-2, sitting there frustrated, looking at that hole. But I think they’ll dig themselves out, starting today against Maryland. And I think they’ve got a good enough defense.”

It appears that today’s game against the Terps should be a nice soft landing spot for the Nittany Lions. But stranger things have happened and Maryland has some added confidence after its overtime win against Minnesota.
