It has been more than 10 years since a B1G player captured the Heisman Trophy, but Kirk Herbstreit believes that could change this season.

It is time for more predictions heading into the 2018 season, and Herbstreit did not hold back. Paul Myerberg with USA TODAY shared Herbstreit’s predictions, and the co-host of ESPN’s College GameDay had a lot to say about Penn State.

Not only did Herbstreit pick the Nittany Lions as one of his teams to make the College Football Playoff, he also believes QB Trace McSorley could make a run at the Heisman. After all, there’s no denying McSorley is one of the most talented and experienced QBs in the country.

Herbstreit also believes he will bring a bit of a chip on his shoulder heading into this season:

Trace McSorley. How about it? He’s the Baker Mayfield of this year as far as intangibles, what he means to this team, attitude, how he plays with a chip on his shoulder…what he means to his team in 2018 reminds me a lot of Baker. I think that’s how Trace will play this year. And I think they’ve got a chip because people made it seem like it was more about Saquon Barkley, and I think they’re out to prove to people, “No, no, no, we have more in this program than Saquon Barkley.”

The Nittany Lions will likely need McSorley to put up big numbers if they hope to make the Playoff. Will he be up to the task?
