Each week, the crew that makes up ESPN’s College GameDay does a great job.
Kirk Herbstreit is an analyst at ESPN, and at one point, began talking about Penn State and its potential College Football Playoff chances a month from now. The crew was talking about the playoff and the loser of the LSU-Alabama game a week from now and the cases that could be made for both teams.
Herbstreit stuck with a B1G team when talking:
“There’s been too much talk of the loser of LSU-Alabama having a debate to get in (the Playoff),” College GameDay analyst Kirk Herbstreit said during Saturday’s show. “Why aren’t people talking about Penn State? If Penn State goes 11-1 and their only loss is in Columbus in competitive game, why wouldn’t Penn State have a very valid and strong case at making the Playoff at 11-1?
“I think Penn State is going to have an argument.”
This is under the assumption that the Nittany Lions lose to Ohio State but win the rest of their games. If that is indeed the case, Penn State would indeed have a legitimate argument as a top four team. Would it get the same love as a one-loss Alabama or LSU, though?
That may be exactly what it all comes down to when the field of four is selected.
