Penn State’s offense has been held in check through one and a half quarters against Iowa, but the Nittany Lions broke through on this drive.

After trailing 3-0 early, Sean Clifford and the offense started to chip away at a stiff Hawkeye defense. They finally made their way down inside the red zone but faced a third-and-seven from inside the 25-yard line.

Fortunately, KJ Hamler and Clifford connected for a big-time play. It was a short out route to Hamler with Clifford threading a beautiful throw to the speedster. One Iowa defender attempted to make a play on the ball, but he was unable to prevent the completion.

Once Hamler got outside, he was off to the race. He streaked down the sideline before launching himself airborne at the goal line. Hamler cleared two Hawkeyes and was able to get the ball inside the pylon for a crucial Penn State touchdown.

This is definitely an early candidate for Play of the Game:

One thing to watch is that Hamler did land awkwardly on his head after scoring the touchdown. He was visibly shaken up after walking back gingerly to the sideline. Hopefully, Hamler is okay and able to stay in the game.
