Penn State picked up five 2018 pledges in what turned out to be a key recruiting weekend.

The last commitment of the weekend might’ve been the most important one of them all.

Early on Sunday night, four-star Maryland receiver Daniel George announced his verbal commitment to Penn State:

The announcement came after George took an unofficial visit to Penn State over the weekend. He picked Penn State over Maryland, UNC and Virginia Tech.

George is the No. 44 receiver and the No. 208 player overall in the 2018 class. The Oxon Hill, Md. native is the No. 8-rated recruit from the state of Maryland.

The 6-1, 205-pound recruit is Penn State’s second receiver in its 2018 class. He joined Justin Shorter, who’s rated the No. 24 player overall.

In addition to George’s commitment, the Lions received weekend pledges from three-star athlete Shaquon Anderson-Butts, three-star defensive end Judge Culpepper, three-star quarterback Will Levis and kicker Jake Pinegar.

Penn State’s 2018 class is up to No. 2 in the B1G and No. 3 overall in the 247sports rankings, trailing only Ohio State and Miami (FL).
