Jim Williams, an assistant coach and administrative assistant for the Penn State Nittany Lions from 1977-2005, passed away on Thursday at the age of 78.

Penn State football’s official Twitter account shared an article highlighting Williams’ contributions to the university:

Joining the coaching staff as a defensive assistant under Joe Paterno in 1977, Williams transitioned into an administrative role in 1993. He remainder in this role until retiring in March 2005.

Playing for the Nittany Lions under Rip Engle, Williams also coached nearby State College Area High School to a 65-13 record from 1969-76.

Williams’ visitation will take place on Monday, October 14, followed by his funeral mass on Tuesday.
