James Franklin isn’t just a football coach, he’s a pretty big fan. How else would you describe his actions after Penn State’s 20-7 win over Rutgers on Saturday?
Following the Nittany Lions’ victory, Franklin entered the media room to talk with reporters, break down the game and discuss individual performances — you know, pretty standard stuff. But he didn’t want to do much talking before catching up on the Ohio State-Maryland game.
That’s right, Franklin pulled up a chair and watch the Buckeyes’ nail-biting victory over the Terrapins with his media pals before talking about his own game.
It was a pretty good game.

The Buckeyes pulled off a thrilling 52-51 overtime win in College Park.
Franklin knows exactly how Maryland feels, after blowing a late lead and dropping a one-point contest to Ohio State in September. It probably brought back some bad memories.
Penn State’s final opponent is Maryland, so he might’ve been doing some live scouting of the Terrapins, too.
Either way, it was a fun moment after posting a win in Piscataway. Penn State improved to 8-3 on the year and still has a chance to win 10 games this season.
