Mike Gesicki will continue to play for the Miami Dolphins this season as he is franchise tagged, but that doesn’t mean that the team won’t look around per Doug Kyed of PFF.com.

Sources told Kyed that the Dolphins have brought up the Penn State TE’s name to other teams as a potential trade target. Gesicki finished the 2021 campaign with 780 yards receiving and 2 touchdowns.

The Dolphins most likely won’t be cutting Gesicki anytime soon, but this is what Kyed knows so far:

The Dolphins, of course, would not cut Gesicki, who’s playing on a fully guaranteed franchise tag this season, but a trade isn’t out of the question. In fact, the Dolphins have “brought up” Gesicki’s name to other teams, a league source told PFF. That doesn’t mean anything will transpire, but Miami has been willing to engage in conversations.

Gesicki will be playing for a different head coach this season. We’ll see how he gets used in Mike McDaniel’s offense.
