Micah Parsons named 2022 NFL Midseason Defensive Player of the Year by Fox Sports
Former Penn State turned Dallas Cowboy Micah Parsons has been named the 2022 Midseason Defensive Player by Fox Sports.
The sports media giant announced the results of the award on Twitter Thursday. The midseason awards work a bit differently than others, and are voted on by NFL on FOX fans. It’s not a huge surprise that Parsons is a fan favorite, as his versatility had helped lead the Cowboys to a 6-2 record. Dallas is currently sitting in second place in the NFC East behind an 8-0 Eagles team.

Parsons was a consensus All-American, the Butkus–Fitzgerald Linebacker of the Year award winner, and the Cotton Bowl Defensive MVP in his collegiate career at Penn State. The LB was drafted by the Cowboys in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
Parson has been able to mimic his collegiate success in his pro career, and was named Defensive Rookie of the Year following the 2021 season. The talented LB had 12 sacks in his first 13 games as an NFL rookie, fourth-most by a rookie in NFL history. He was voted into the Pro Bowl, and named 1st Team All-Pro by the AP.
