One of the closest rivalries in the B1G recently is getting set for another anticipated showdown.

Penn State and Ohio State have developed quite the series over their history, especially considering the last three seasons. Each of the previous two matchups have been decided by a single point with the 2016 matchup being decided by a field goal. It should also be a third straight top-10 matchup.

The Nittany Lions played a close one this weekend, but the team still finished the job against Indiana. For Ohio State, they dominated Rutgers on the road. Both teams entered the week inside the top 10 for the College Football Playoff and should stay there moving forward.

As an added bonus, the winner of the showdown will have the lead in the B1G East division with just one week left in the regular season. Micah Parsons discussed that significance Saturday, and he admitted it’s a huge opportunity:

“I told people already: This is the Big Ten championship right here. This is gonna make or break either one of our seasons,” explained Parsons.

HappyValley.com shared the video of Parsons’ comments:

Obviously, the winner of next week’s game isn’t guaranteed anything. They must still win the final game of the season and take on the B1G West winner which is likely to be Minnesota or Wisconsin. Still, there’s no denying a win would put either team on the brink of a conference title and potential CFP trip.
