It’s always a smart idea for the skill position guys to take care of their offensive lineman. After all, it’s the big bodies up front that are doing all of the dirty work.

Penn State running back Miles Sanders understands that fully.

Following Penn State’s 63-24 win over Illinois on Friday night, Sanders sent out a tweet publicly thanking his offensive linemen, saying they are “something special up front.”

That compliment was well-deserved. The Nittany Lions’ offensive front cleared the path for 387 rushing yards against the Illini on Friday night. Sanders had a majority of the success, racking up 200 yards and three touchdowns himself.

At the end of the night, Penn State racked up 591 yards of offense, converted on 9-of-11 third down attempts and outscored Illinois 35-0 in the final quarter.

Sanders’ major compliment comes at a pretty good time, too. Next Saturday, Penn State battles one of the best defensive front lines in college football, as Ohio State travels to Beaver Stadium.

Penn State’s offensive line could be the difference between a win and a loss next Saturday night.
