James Franklin only signed one true Florida recruit since he got to Penn State.

That was back in 2014 when Amani Oruwariye, a cornerback from Tampa, officially joined the Lions.

More than three years later, Franklin got a verbal commitment from another cornerback from Tampa. Four-star recruit Jordan Miner announced his pledge to Penn State on Thursday.

Miner is rated the No. 30 cornerback and the No. 305 player overall in the 2018 class.

The 6-1, 177-pound Tampa native picked Penn State instead of Florida, Maryland, Oregon and Tennessee. He unofficially visited Auburn, Georgia, Penn State and Tennessee in the last two months.

With Miner’s commitment, the Lions now have two cornerbacks and eight pledges from four-star recruits in their 2018 class.

Penn State’s 2018 class is rated No. 2 in the B1G and No. 5 nationally by 247sports.
