With just a few hours left until 2022, very few teams will have a few limited opportunities to be given one more gift in 2021. Penn State was gifted with a big surprise commit from 4-star athlete Neeo Avery, who made his announcement on Twitter on Friday night.

Avery made his commitment in a surprise video where he showed a Penn State shirt with a Kentucky and UMass hit on the table.

According to 247Sports Composite, Avery is rated as the 208th ranked overall player in the 2023 national recruiting class, as well as the 19th rated edge rusher and No. 3 player from the state of Maryland.

Avery had 12 total offers outside of Penn State including Arkansas, Boston College, Cincinnati, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, UMass, Michigan State, Ole Miss, and Pittsburgh.

Avery is the sixth-total prospect from the 2023 recruiting class to commit to Penn State and the third 4-star prospect.
