Nicholas Singleton comments on NFL Draft decision
Nicholas Singleton has been a major piece for Penn State’s offense since he joined the program in 2022. Now, he faces a major decision once the College Football Playoff wraps up.
The good news for Singleton and Penn State is that they are still alive with the semifinals on deck. After a pair of impressive wins against SMU and Boise State, the Nittany Lions will now face Notre Dame in an Orange Bowl semifinal with a chance to reach the national championship.
As it relates to Singleton’s future, he says he is squarely focused on the task at hand, which is facing a stout Notre Dame defense. He said there has been no decision made on the NFL but that the decision will come once the season is over.
“I haven’t made a decision yet. I’m still focused on finishing out the season the right way, we’ve got a chance to do something we haven’t done in a while, to compete for a national championship,” said Singleton. “Right now I’m just focusing on that, and at the end of the season, I’ll make a decision.”
Singleton has been one of the most consistent and explosive backs since hitting college. He is over 2,800 career rushing yards with 700+ yards as a receiving back with 37 total touchdowns.
In his career, Singleton has a pair of 1,000-yard seasons and averages 5.8 yards per carry. He has also been an electric kick returner.
In the Playoff opener vs. SMU, Singleton had 90 yards and a touchdown on just 14 carries. He then punctuated the Fiesta Bowl win over Boise State with 87 yards and the clinching 58-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Singleton’s overall numbers might not lead the country, but that’s because he’s had Kaytron Allen as his lead running mate throughout his career. That shouldn’t put a damper on Singleton’s draft stock with his versatile skill set and electric speed, but we’ll see where he lands on the 2025 season after things wrap up.
