4-star running back Nicholas Singleton is ready to get going at Penn State.

He officially signed to the Nittany Lions on Wednesday during the Early Signing Period and hopes to follow the legacy of in-state running backs at Penn State.

Singleton said as much on TribLive.com out of Pittsburgh.

“Saquon had a big impact on me picking Penn State just because you could see how he did there,” Singleton said. “The running back tradition they produce at Penn State. Not just him, Miles Sanders, Journey Brown, and Coach (Ja’Juan) Seider. He’s a really good person. He told me this is your state and you should play for it.”

Singleton is the No. 2 player in Pennsylvania and the No. 4 overall running back for the 2022 class, per 247Sports Composite. He’s also the No. 49 overall recruit.

Head coach James Franklin is also ecstatic about bringing Singleton to the program and knows the history of keeping top backs in PA.

With how much playing time TreVeyon Henderson got for Ohio State this year as a freshman, it shouldn’t shock anyone if Singleton got the same treatment for next season.
