Nicholas Singleton, Kaytron Allen to return to Penn State for 2025 season
Nicholas Singleton and Kaytron Allen have had intertwining careers ever since they arrived at Penn State together in the 2022 recruiting class. Since that time, they have taken their turns leading the Nittany Lions in rushing as key cogs for the offense.
Both players have seen heavy action throughout their 3 seasons at Penn State, and they were both eligible for the 2025 NFL Draft. But instead of making the jump to go pro, both players confirmed on Monday they will be back for the 2025 season.
Each player released corresponding statements on Monday, providing a major boost to James Franklin’s team entering next season:
The corresponding decisions mean Penn State will be able to reload offensively heading into next year. Along with the elite running back duo, star quarterback Drew Allar has confirmed he will return for the 2025 season.
The loss of Tyler Warren is undoubtedly a major blow to the offense. But with freshman tight end Luke Reynolds developing throughout the year and looking to ascend, the Nittany Lions will be able to roll out a talented and experienced backfield that few teams can match.
Both players have had turns leading the ground game for Penn State with Singleton leading the team in rushing as a true freshman before Allen led the team in 2023. This season, Allen ended the year with more rushing yards (1,108 to 1,099 for Singleton), but it was Nicholas Singleton who produced more total offense.
All combined, Singleton had 1,474 yards of offense and 17 touchdowns to lead Penn State. Allen added 1,261 yards of offense and 10 touchdowns. Singleton’s efficiency was also better, averaging 6.4 yards per carry and 6.9 yards per offensive touch.
Together, the duo has nearly 7,000 yards of offense in their 3-year careers with 68 offensive touchdowns.
Considering the Nittany Lions advanced to the national semifinals this season, Penn State is likely to open among the Big Ten favorites when the 2025 season rolls around. We’ll see if the offense can live up to the building hype with some elite pieces returning.
