Penn State can finally start getting its program back to where fans think it should be. Head coach James Franklin has his full amount of scholarships handy, yet the team is extremely young.

The Nittany Lions currently have 49 players on its roster listed as either true freshmen or redshirt freshmen. Despite the youth, the only way to get better is to recruit the top prospects in the country.

Penn State is doing that and the No. 1-ranked running back recruit in the class of 2018 announced his top-five on Twitter yesterday:

Penn State is the lone Big Ten school in Ricky Slade’s top-five. Slade, a 5-foot-9 back from Woodbridge, Va., is a five-star tailback and is the No. 20-ranked overall player according to 247 Sports.

Slade may be small in stature, but with that comes speed, as his 40-yard dash is listed at 4.48 seconds as a junior in high school. In the last 16 months, Slade has visited the Nittany Lions’ campus three separate times.
