Olu Fashanu had a chance to potentially become a first-round draft pick last year. Instead, he returned for another season to develop at Penn State, and he now has a chance to be one of the top players selected in April.

At the top of the draft, Fashanu and Notre Dame left tackle Joe Alt are the players expected to be in the mix as the top lineman selected. Ryan Wilson with CBS Sports was quick to release his first post-Super Bowl mock draft on Monday, and he gives the current edge to Fashanu.

In fact, Wilson has Fashanu as a top-5 pick, going to the Los Angeles Chargers and new head coach Jim Harbaugh at No. 5 overall. Here’s what Wilson had to say about the pick:

The Chargers continue to bolster the offensive line — they’ve drafted a tackle and a guard in the first round in two of the last three years — even with a playmaker like Brock Bowers still on the board.

Listed at 6-foot-6 and 317 pounds, Fashanu started 20 games at left tackle across the 2022-23 seasons as an anchor for the Nittany Lion offense. He was a consensus All-American for the 2023 season, a first-team All-B1G recipient and the Rimington-Pace Offensive Lineman of the Year.

At DraftKings, Fashanu is currently listed at +650 to be the first non-quarterback player taken in the draft. He trails superstar receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. and Jared Verse in those odds, and most mock drafts project Harrison as the top non-QB available.
