It’s official, Joe Moorhead is the new offensive coordinator at Oregon. The Ducks made an official announcement of the hiring on Tuesday.

The news comes just weeks after Moorhead was fired by Mississippi State following a 6-7 campaign in his second year in Starkville.

Moorhead was last an offensive coordinator at Penn State, serving in the role on James Franklin’s staff from 2016-17. He helped revitalize Penn State’s offense with Trace McSorley at quarterback, Saquon Barkley at running back and a slew of talented receivers.

In 2016, Moorhead’s first season as the offensive coordinator at Penn State, the Nittany Lions finished the season 11-3 and claimed a B1G title. The following season, PSU went 11-2 and defeated Washington in the Fiesta Bowl.

Moorhead then took the head coaching job at Mississippi State in 2018.

With Mississippi State, Moorhead posted a record of 14-12 and guided the Bulldogs to back-to-back bowl appearances. He was 7-9 in SEC play.
