Pat Freiermuth, former Penn State TE, exits Week 4 early following hamstring injury
Pat Freiermuth, a former Penn State tight end and current Pittsburgh Steeler, left Week 4’s matchup between Pittsburgh and the Houston Texans.
The team announced soon after that Freiermuth will miss the remainder of Sunday’s game.

The injury happened on a broken play for the Steelers in the 2nd half. Freiermuth was just starting to get going for a Steelers offense that has been hapless at best this year.
So far, Freiermuth has totaled 5 receptions for 46 yards and 2 touchdowns, as he’s primarily been used on the goal line. The Steelers have turned to Darnell Washington for intermediate throws in the passing game.
This is still a big loss for the Steelers, though. Freiermuth has been a legitimate red zone threat for the Steelers this season, and taking away an opportunity to score on a team that has looked dreadful offensively is far from ideal.
