Penn State dipped into the Sunshine State early Saturday morning to secure a commitment from 4-star cornerback Jon Mitchell of Jacksonville. Mitchell, who is a top-300 player in the Class of 2024, picked the Nittany Lions of the likes of Alabama, Tennessee, Miami, Michigan, USC and many more.

According to 247Sports, Mitchell gives Penn State the No. 13 class in the 2024 rankings. On top of that, he is the 2nd highest rated recruit currently committed to play for the Nittany Lions behind interior OL Cooper Cousins.

Sites such as On3 are higher on Mitchell than others.

According to 247’s composite rankings, Mitchell is considered to be the No. 197 prospect in the class of 2024 and the No. 17 overall cornerback. Finally, Mitchell is considered to be the No. 30 player from the Sunshine State.

Mitchell is now one of 2 cornerbacks committed to Penn State’s 2024 class, also including 4-star Kenneth Woseley out of Philadelphia.
