Penn State added its 2nd commitment of the 2025 cycle on Tuesday morning.

The Nittany Lions picked up a commitment from 2025 cornerback Omari Gaines.

Here’s his announcement:

Gaines has had a Penn State offer for nearly 1 year. He impressed the coaching staff early on in his recruiting cycle and has continued to improve.

Here’s James Franklin’s reaction to the news on Tuesday morning:

Gaines does not currently have a rating from most of the major recruiting services. He’s currently a 3-star prospect, according to Rivals.

In addition to Penn State, Gaines has received offers from programs like Rutgers, Duke, Boston College and Ole Miss, amongst others. Gaines is listed at 6-foot-2, 175 pounds.

Penn State’s other 2025 commitment is 4-star offensive tackle Jaelyne Matthews, who is also a New Jersey native. Penn State currently has the No. 5 recruiting class in the country for 2025, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
