Penn State adds former B1G OC as offensive analyst
Rod Smith is back in the Big Ten. The former Illinois offensive coordinator announced that he has joined James Franklin’s staff as an offensive analyst.
Smith, 49, shared the news on his Twitter account:

Smith heads to Penn State after a year at Virginia on Bronco Mendenhall’s staff as an analyst. Smith is a B1G veteran. He was Illinois’ offensive coordinator from 2018-to-2020, serving as the Illini’s interim coach after Lovie Smith’s firing. Smith was Indiana’s quarterbacks coach and co-offensive coordinator in 2011. Prior to that, he was Michigan’s QB coach from 2008-to-2010.
