Penn State filled one of its offensive assistant roles Friday evening.

Earlier in bowl season, the Nittany Lions were able to lure Kirk Ciarrocca away from Minnesota to fill the offensive coordinator role under James Franklin. Now, Penn State has added Phil Trautwein to serve as the OL coach moving forward.

Trautwein was an All-SEC lineman during his career at Florida and was a part of two SEC and BCS championship teams as a Gator. He spent four seasons in the NFL before transitioning to the sidelines.

His first gig came at Boston College in 2013, spending two stints at BC and one at Davidson before coming to Happy Valley. Trautwein’s work at Boston College, both in on-field production and developing NFL players, has been impressive. Hopefully, he can continue that strong track record at Penn State.
