PFF College released its highest-graded cornerbacks in single coverage so far in the 2022 season. One Penn State corner sits near the top.

No, it’s not projected first-rounder Joey Porter Jr., but it’s sophomore Kalen King who has been in lockdown mode all season, sitting at No. 2 nationally with a 92.1 grade.

King’s breakout year paired with Porter Jr. has formed one of the most lethal secondaries in the country. The duo sits at No. 3 and No. 1 in total pass breakups, respectively, and Penn State sits as one of the most efficient pass defenses in the country, according to NCAA.com.

The defense has taken an aggressive approach under new defensive coordinator Manny Diaz, and it has certainly paid off so far. However, the true magnitude of the Nittany Lions’ pass defense will be shown this month with Michigan, Minnesota and Ohio State coming up the in the next three weeks.
