Penn State converts on perfect fake punt to set up game-opening score vs. Michigan
Penn State is on the board first against Michigan, using some big plays on the opening drive to set up a field goal.
It was far from perfect work by the Nittany Lions. The Wolverine defense forced 3rd downs of 17 and 8 yards and nearly got off the field. But some clutch plays by the offense, including the work of Sean Clifford converted.
Michigan would eventually force a 4th-and-6 near midfield. Sensing something might be afoot, Jim Harbaugh even called a timeout to get things set on special teams. It did not matter with Jordan Stout slinging a beautiful pass out of the punt formation to convert.

Penn State was unable to cash that in for a touchdown, but the Nittany Lions did boot a game-opening field goal to make it 3-0 early. The defense also forced Michigan into a quick punt as the Nittany Lions try to gain control early.
