Penn State is in the running for the No. 1 safety from the state of Alabama.

TJ Metcalf, a 3-star prospect out of Pinson, Alabama, announced Wednesday that he has cut his list to four, including Penn State, Arkansas, Ole Miss and Jackson State.

Metcalf is considered by many to be a higher commodity than his rank may portray. He’s considered to be the No. 529 overall player in the 2023 cycle, as well as the No. 49 safety and the No. 24 prospect from the state of Alabama.

All 4 schools would make sense for the 3-star prospect. Deion Sanders-led Jackson State has gained popularity among recruits, especially for a defensive back such as Metcalf.

Per 247 Sports, Metcalf is considered to be a slight Arkansas lean heading towards the end of June.
