Penn State football has turned into a powerhouse.

One way you can tell is by recruiting. James Franklin is bringing in studs for the Nittany Lions every single season and this past year’s class was no different.

Micah Parsons was a freshman this past season at Penn State and coming out of high school, 247Sports deemed him as a 5-star prospect and the No. 5 overall player in the class. Expectations were through the roof, and, rightfully so.

Penn State defensive coordinator Brent Pry talked about Parsons’ first season with the Nittany Lions and is excited about the freshman’s future.

“I think the fact that Micah led our defense in tackles, and started only one game, tells the tale a little bit,” Pry said.

Pry also talked about his growth:

“He’s got some growing to do, some maturing; my hat is off to him for the year he did put in,” Pry said. “A young man that had never played linebacker, and worked hard to learn it, played hard, didn’t allow things to slow him down when he wasn’t sure, so he had a very nice year.”

Piggybacking off of this year, the best is yet to come:

“He’s got a big offseason in front of him,” Pry said. “Very high expectations he places on himself, and he’s got obviously great potential, so it’s going to be exciting moving forward.”
