Penn State defensive end Garrett Sickels has become the latest B1G defender to forego his final season at the college level and declare for the NFL Draft.

Sickels sent an announcement out through Twitter on Wednesday night announcing his decision to leave Happy Valley for the professional ranks.

Here was the message he sent out via social media:

Sickels closed out the 2016 season with six sacks, 12.5 tackles for loss and 47 total stops. He was a second-team All-B1G selection at the end of the regular season.

His top performance of the year came in Penn State’s upset win over Ohio State. In that game, Sickels recorded nine stops and 2.5 sacks in the victory.

For his career, Sickels ends with 94 tackles, 11 sacks and 21 tackles for loss in three seasons with the Nittany Lions. He enters the 2017 NFL Draft as the No. 8 defensive end according to CBS Sports’ current projections.
