The Nittany Lions had some fireworks of their own this Fourth of July, adding a big-time prospect out of the southeast Sunday afternoon.

This time, the commitment came from Zane Durant, a defensive lineman out of Orlando, Florida for the class of 2022. Durant is a four-star prospect and brings Penn State’s recruiting class up to 15 commitments for the cycle.

According to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, Durant is the No. 46 defensive lineman and is just outside the top-300 overall prospects as the No. 338 nationally for 2022. Listed at 6-foot-1 and 251 lbs., Durant held offers from across the country, including a group of B1G and SEC powers made up of Auburn, Tennessee, Minnesota, Indiana, and Ole Miss.

The commitment of Durant now has Penn State’s recruiting class ranked No. 7 nationally and No. 2 in the B1G, trailing only Ohio State’s impactful class for the cycle. Durant also becomes the second prospect to commit out of the Sunshine State, joining four-star OT Drew Shelton.
