Penn State is back in a New Year’s Six Bowl with a 10-win season and Rose Bowl appearance for the 2022 season. Now, the Nittany Lions have a shot at getting back to 11 wins after winning 11 wins total across the 2020-21 seasons.

Monday’s game will be Penn State’s first Rose Bowl appearance since the end of the 2016 season, a thrilling showdown but a loss to USC. Since then, Franklin has produced a pair of New Year’s Six wins with the most recent coming in the Cotton Bowl after the 2019 season.

Since 2019, the Nittany Lions scuffled through and coming out of the 2020 COVID season. However, Franklin has returned the program to double-digit wins with a 10-2 season entering the bowl game.

While the Nittany Lions still missed out on a B1G title and College Football Playoff appearance, Monday’s game provides an opportunity for Penn State to produce a building block win heading into 2023. Sunday evening, Franklin tweeted out the program’s hype video for the Rose Bowl.
