Maryland football had an injury scare after Taulia Tagovailoa was hit late out of bounds in its game against loss to Penn State in Week 10. The Terrapins went on to lose 31-14 despite Tagovailoa’s 371 yards passing and touchdown.

Penn State defensive lineman Fred Hansard was on the sideline as Tagovailoa ran towards him trying to get out of bounds after throwing the ball away. As Tagovailoa got closer Hansard can be seen in the video shoving him to the ground after he was well out of bounds.

Kyle J. Andrews of the Centre Daily Times posted a video of the hit on Twitter following the game, calling for Hansard to be suspended for the late hit he had during the game.

On Monday afternoon, Hansard took to Twitter to issue an apology to Tagovailoa and the entire Maryland football team, trying to reassure everyone involved that what he did had no bad intentions.

Neither Penn State or James Franklin has commented on the incident. There could be something said at Franklin’s press conference on Tuesday.
