Penn State has lost quarterback Micah Bowens after he spent just one year with the team.

It was announced by the Rivals NCAA Transfer Portal Twitter page on Friday afternoon:

As the graphic in the tweet says, Bowens redshirted this past season and was a three-star recruit coming out of high school. He was also the fourth-ranked player in the state of Nevada for the 2020 class and the 12th ranked dual-threat quarterback in the country.

According to his Rivals page, he had offers from 13 total schools. Some of the others outside of Penn State included: Arizona, BYU, Duke, Kansas, Ole Miss, and North Carolina.

Nittany Lions starting quarterback Sean Clifford is returning for his senior season (as of right now) so that could’ve played a role in Bowens transferring. He likely wants to go somewhere where he can compete for the starting job right away. We’ll have to see when he announces his commitment to the school of his choice.
