Penn State is a perfect 3-0 entering Week 5 of the college football season.

The Nittany Lions have had scoring outbursts so far and have played sound defensively as well. The most points the team has allowed so far was 13 to Buffalo. It held Pittsburgh to 10.

Penn State had a bye in Week 4 and was able to get extra practice time and was able to prepare more for the upcoming game at Maryland.

The point of emphasis? James Franklin is looking at his team’s third-down defense:

Has Penn state struggled on stopping teams on third down this season? Not exactly.

According to ncaa.com, the Nittany Lions rank 25th in the country while allowing opponents to convert 29.6 percent of the time. Not too bad at all.

That being said, one could make the argument that Maryland possesses a more potent offense than its three previous opponents. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. Friday at Maryland Stadium. The game will be televised on FS1.
