Penn State flips elite 2025 tight end away from Big Ten rival
Penn State has received a commitment from Center Valley (Pa.) Southern Lehigh tight end Andrew Olesh.
The elite pass-catcher had been publicly pledged to Michigan since July, but as the Early Signing Period approached, the Wolverines had reason to grow uncomfortable. The bulk of the noise seemed to be around Oregon heading into Friday’s announcement. Olesh briefly picked an Oregon visor up off the desk in front of him during his commitment ceremony, faked again with a Michigan hat, and then grabbed a Penn State hat for good.
It signaled a massive win for James Franklin and Co. The Nittany Lions invested considerable resources into his recruitment and, in the end, persuaded the top-ranked recruit from the state of Pennsylvania to stay home.

Olesh is a 4-star prospect in the industry-generated 247 Composite. He’s the No. 3 tight end in the class and the No. 59 overall recruit. He took official visits to Florida, Penn State, and Michigan in June before choosing the Wolverines a few weeks later.
Olesh also took OVs to Notre Dame and Oregon last month, leading to speculation his recruitment was not over.
No doubt, Penn State’s recent success with tight ends was appealing. Penn State has had 4 tight ends drafted into the NFL since 2018 — all of them within the first 4 rounds. And Tyler Warren has blossomed into one of the most impactful players in the country this season.
Olesh might be of that same ilk. He can do it all as a pass-catcher who stands at 6-foot-5, 215 pounds. As a junior, he caught 53 passes for 972 yards and 10 scores. As a senior, he was even better, hauling in 75 receptions for 1,105 yards and 10 touchdowns.
He joins a class that ranks in the top 15 nationally. You can see his highlight tape below, via Hudl:
