Penn State freshman RB bolts for transfer portal
Penn State’s running back room is seeing one of its own enter the NCAA transfer portal.
Sean Fitz of 247Sports reported on Monday afternoon that freshman walk-on running back Joseph Bruno has entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal. He appeared in eight games with the Nittany Lions in his first season with the program.
Penn State freshman walk-on RB Joseph Bruno is in the Portal, per source. Played in eight games in 2020, mostly on special teams. Speedy guy who may be able to land a scholarship somewhere. https://t.co/pIDABAbgHq @247SportsPortal

Most of Bruno’s appearances came on special teams during his first year with the program. He recorded one tackle on the special teams unit and was also credited with 42 yards on 4 carries on the year. All 42 yards came in the season finale against Illinois.
Bruno had a career-long run of 20 yards against the Illini, as well.
Penn State ended the season with a 4-5 record, winning the final four games on the schedule after starting the campaign 0-5, the worst in program history.
Because of the NCAA’s blanket waiver for all fall student-athletes for the 2020 season, Bruno will have all four years of eligibility remaining despite playing in eight games.
