Penn State just landed a commitment from one of the nation’s best 2019 prospects as Virginia native Brandon Smith pledged his services to James Franklin’s program during a Monday ceremony.

Smith is ranked as a five-star prospect, the No. 30 overall prospect in the nation and the No. inside linebacker in the country by 247Sports Composite Rankings. The 6-foot-4, 223-pound Smith currently has scholarship offers from Ohio State, Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Georgia, Florida State and Texas A&M among many others.

Following this commitment, Penn State now has seven pledges lined up for the 2019 recruiting cycle.
