Penn State pulled off a flip via the 2023 recruiting trail Tuesday afternoon. This time, the flip comes at the expense of Northwestern and head coach Pat Fitzgerald.

The player is Mason Robinson, a 6-foot-4 and 230 lb. DL out of the McDonogh School in Owings Mills, Maryland. Robinson committed to the Wildcats in May but revealed he was going with Penn State after an official visit.

“First and foremost, I would like to thank my family, friends, and coaches for supporting me throughout this long journey,” wrote Robinson. “I am extremely blessed to be in the position I’m in today. I am thankful for all the love from Coach Fitzgerald and Northwestern University but I am officially de-committing from Northwestern University. I will be going back to where it all started, with Coach Franklin and the Nittany Lions.”

According to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, Robinson is a 3-star prospect and the No. 73 DL nationally for the class of 2023. He joins 3-star prospect Tyriq Blanding as 2023 DL commitments for the Nittany Lions to go with a number of Edge prospects.
