Penn State just concluded a successful 2024 season. The team made it all the way to the semifinals of the College Football Playoff before being knocked out by Notre Dame.

Now, the team is searching the transfer portal for talent in hopes of making another run in 2025.

On Saturday, the Nittany Lions received a commitment from former Michigan defensive lineman Owen Wafle. The DL took to social media to announce the news himself, adding #WeAre with an image of himself in Penn State gear.

Wafle was a freshman in 2024 and did not record any statistics for the Wolverines. The DL will look to catch on in Happy Valley and will have 4 years of eligibility remaining.

Before college, Wafle starred for the Hun School in Princeton, NJ. The defender initially committed to Notre Dame out of high school but flipped to Michigan on early signing day in 2023. Wafle also had offers from Boston College, Duke, and  Iowa, among others, coming out of high school.

The 247Sports Composite ranking had Wafle rated as a 4-star prospect, the No. 50 DL, and the No. 9 prospect out of New Jersey in the 2024 class. Wafle had 24 tackles for loss and 10 sacks in his final high school season.

Wafle becomes the 5th player from the portal to commit to Penn State so far this offseason. On offense, the team has added wide receivers Kyron Hudson and Devonte Ross along with offensive lineman TJ Shanahan. On defense, the team has added Wafle and Enai White, both pass-rushers.
