Penn State made a big addition to its 2025 recruiting class on Sunday morning.

The Nittany Lions earned a commitment from 3-star safety Braswell Thomas. He visited campus this weekend and decided to commit to coach James Franklin and his staff.

Thomas is not ranked particularly highly by any of the major recruiting services, but he does have an impressive offer list. Georgia, Nebraska, West Virginia, Tennessee and Pitt are amongst the schools who have offered Thomas a scholarship over the last 18 months.

Currently, Thomas ranks as the No. 99 safety in the country for the class of 2025. He’s also the No. 36 prospect from the state of New Jersey.

New Jersey has been important recruiting territory for the Nittany Lions in this cycle. He’s the 4th player from the Garden State to commit to Penn State in this class so far. That’s the most of any state other than Pennsylvania (6 so far).

Penn State is now up to 17 commits in the class of 2025. The group sits at No. 10 nationally, per 247Sports Composite rankings. The Nittany Lions have not signed a top-10 recruiting class from the high school ranks since the class of 2022.
