Penn State dipped into the transfer portal and landed a massive commitment from former VCU guard Ace Baldwin Jr. Sunday. Baldwin, one of the top guard transfers in the portal, will be enormous for a Nittany Lions team looking to move on from Micah Shrewsberry, who took the vacant Notre Dame job at the end of the season.

Baldwin was named the A-10 Player of the Year following what was his best season as a Ram yet. The 3rd-year guard averaged 12.7 points, 2.9 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game this past season. His 5.8 assists per game ranked 15th in the country in 2022-23.

He made his announcement via Twitter Sunday:

Penn State fans needed news like this. The Nittany Lions have lost 5 players to the transfer portal, perhaps worst of all being freshman center Kebba Njie. This is their first transfer addition of the offseason.

Penn State is fresh off its best season in college basketball in quite some time. The Nittany Lions made a run to the B1G Championship game, falling to Zach Edey and Purdue. They made the NCAA Tournament and knocked off a strong Texas A&M team in the first round before falling in a tough battle to Texas in the Round of 32.
