Birchmeier is currently a 4-star prospect and the No. 1 overall interior offensive lineman for the class of 2023, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
He’s rated as the No. 42 overall player in the country in the composite. 247Sports ranks him as the No. 19 overall player and could eventually bump him to 5-star status.
Birchmeier chose Penn State over offers from Notre Dame, Michigan, Auburn, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon and several other major programs.
The talented lineman is listed at 6-foot-5, 275 pounds. He attends Broad Run High School in Ashburn, Virginia.
He is Penn State’s first commitment in the class of 2023. The Nittany Lions currently have a top-3 class for 2022, and it appears they plan on keeping that momentum going.
